My dog is nervous at the groomers, will you still groom them?

Our groomers are experienced dog handlers and have groomed dogs of all temperaments. We try to make the experience as fun and relaxing as possible for all pets and we want them to grow to enjoy their visit to The Pet Retreat.

We work with your animal to improve their confidence as much as possible, but we understand that some dogs are just nervous or naughty in unusual surroundings. For this reason we have a range of equipment that allows us to keep them safe and steady whilst the scissors are out.

On some rare occasions, if your dog is particularly difficult to deal with, we may ask for a small fee to cover any additional time that the groom has taken.

My pet is really matted, can you still groom them?

We can still groom your dog if it’s matted, but we usually charge a little extra for the time it takes to remove all of their matts. Matted hair can be extremely uncomfortable for your dog, but removing the mattes is essential for their coat and skin health. The additional cost of removing matts depends on their size, the severity of the matts and the cut that you require.

Do you only groom dogs?

We don’t just groom dogs, although they are by far our most common pet. We can also groom guinea pigs, cats and some other small furries. Unfortunately, we don’t tend to groom rabbits because their skin is extremely thin and susceptible to cuts. To find out if we can groom your pet, contact us today.

What happens if I miss my appointment?

We send a text reminder the day before your appointment. We ask that if you can’t attend your appointment we are given at least 24 hours notice so we can offer the vacancy to someone else. If we are given less than 24 hours notice, we reserve the right to charge the full price of the groom that would have been undertaken and a deposit will be taken before any future appointments can be booked.

What should I do if I'm running late for my appointment?

We understand that sometimes small delays can’t be helped. If you are running late to an appointment, please ring us at your earliest convenience so we can still try and accommodate you. If the delay is more than 15 minutes, we may have to rearrange the appointment but you may still be charged.
